Forum Moderation Guide: Users: User Profiles: Avatars

This page is part of the Moderating Microsoft Forums series.

There is no provision within the forum software to recognize images. Therefore, it cannot automatically prohibit specific avatars or generate alerts based on potential violations. Before saving a post, moderators should quickly scan all avatars in a thread and check they do not contain the following:

  • Offensive symbols (swastikas, etc.)
  • Unauthorized product or Microsoft logos
  • Unauthorized alteration of a Microsoft product logo
  • Obscene or offensive images

If you determine that an avatar is inappropriate, escalate the issue according to the escalation policy. Figure 1 shows an example of an unauthorized product logo.
