IMPORTANT: Keep checking the MAP Blog and MAP Toolkit Content Index (en-US) for updates and changes , especially after new versions of MAP are released.
The Oracle Collector is used to collect Oracle SQL Server schema information from remote Windows, Linux, and HP-UX based computers. This collector technology is used for this inventory scenario.
Port 1521 is the default port MAP will use for connecting to the Oracle SQL database engine. In the inventory wizard, you can change the port that MAP uses if a non-default port is used in your environment.
The 64 bit Oracle client must be installed on the machine that is running MAP in order to connect directly to the database engine and collect the schema information. If the 64 bit Oracle client is not installed MAP will still collect some basic information about the Oracle server from WMI or SSH. The MAP Toolkit requires the 64 bit Oracle client and will not collect schema information with the 32 bit client.
Ed Price - MSFT edited Revision 2. Comment: Removing "(en-US)" from the title. Sorry. That community-driven practice came as a surprise to us, and we had to take time to get the Wiki Community Council to decide on it. Thanks!
Michael Board [MSFT CSG] edited Revision 1. Comment: updated 64 bit wording
Michael Board edited Original. Comment: Updated reference to oracle client to reflect incompatibility with 32 bit client.
