Operating System

Windows 7, Windows server 2008

Problem

When we trying to add a network printer on a computer that is running Windows 7 or windows server 2008, may receive the following error message

“Printer Settings could not be saved. Operation could not be completed (Error 0x000006D9)”

Solution

Check the both systems are installed same OS architecture (32 bit or 64 bit) or not. It should be identical for both systems.

Check the both systems are in same workgroup or domain.

Verify the network settings as shown below

a. Click start and click Control Panel.

b. Double click Network and Sharing Center.

c. Select "Change advanced sharing settings" option in the right panel.

d. Please turn on "Network discovery" and "File and printer sharing".

Check the windows firewall service status.

To share printers in Windows 7/Windows server 2008, we must have the Windows Firewall Service enabled. Start the firewall service and change the startup type to automatic.

After doing the above settings try to add the network printer again.
