Forum OP Tips: How to Increase Your Chances to Get Your Question Answered

Here are some ways that an Original Poster (OP) can increase their chances of getting their questions answered:

Unpropose and unmark unhelpful answers
Come back and reply to get your question pushed back up
When you reply, keep trying to give more background info that might help. Also explain what you've tried each time and why you don't think it's working.
Ask for help in related Wiki article comments and blog comments, and link back to your forum question.
Email knowledgeable friends and ask for help, linking back to your forum question.
Ask in the appropriate forum. A question in the wrong forum will get ignored or moved. If you aren't sure where to post your question, search for similar questions.
Search before you ask. If the answer is easily found by a quick search, you are wasting others time.
Use a meaningful title, that summarizes your question. A good title will encourage others to investigate. An example of a bad title is "Need Urgent Help". This communicates nothing about the problem. Others scanning the forum are less likely to find this interesting.
If something doesn't work, explain how it doesn't work (including any error messages).
Describe your goal, rather than just your attempted solution.
If your question is answered, be sure to mark the answer.
