Small Basic は QuickBasic から派生したマイクロソフトの初心者向け .NET プログラミング言語です。2008 年 10 月に最初のベーター版がリリースされた後も、2 年以上も開発が続き、2011 年 6 月に 1.0 版が正式にリリースされました。多言語への対応がなされ、20 以上の言語で利用可能です。Small Basic は Visual Basic を控えめにしたバージョンとも言え、.NET Framework 3.5 上で動作します。

エクステンション

プログラムで利用する機能が Small Basic の標準ライブラリになかったときは、拡張ライブラリを自分で他の .NET プログラミング言語（VB.NET と C# のチュートリアル）によって作成することもできます。自分で拡張ライブラリを作らなくても、PowerExtension や LitDev Extension をダウンロードすることが可能です。エクステンションの一覧はこちら。
