Symptoms

Audio quality issues and echoes might be caused by the audio device that another caller is using. You might see the following messages in Lync:

  • Another user's device might be causing audio quality issues
  • Another user's device might be causing an echo

Resolution

Ask others on the call to do the following:

  • Turn down their speaker volume to reduce the echo.
  • If they are using their webcam’s microphone or computer speakers, ask them to use a different audio device.
  • Make sure the device they are using is optimized for Microsoft Lync 2010 communications software. For a list of optimized devices, see Phones and Devices Qualified for Microsoft Lync.
  • If the problem persists, ask the presenter to mute the participant who has the malfunctioning device.
