Symptoms

While using application sharing in Lync, you see one of the following messages:

  • Application Sharing Error
  • Application Sharing Error - Legacy
  • Application Sharing Error - Invite

Resolution

If you run into issues sharing an application with Lync, try the following steps to resolve the problem:

  • Make sure that you can connect with contacts successfully before trying to share an application, because application sharing relies on having a connection with the contacts whom you intend to share with.
  • If you are trying to share an application with multiple contacts, try sharing with just one other contact first. This step can help you determine if the issue involves just conferencing or even peer-to-peer communication.
  • If you are sharing an application, try sharing your desktop instead. This step can help you determine if the issue involves configuration or connectivity problems.
  • Test to confirm that devices such as audio speakers are connected and functioning properly. If other devices are working, then it is likely a configuration issue with application sharing.
