  • Second 2013 mailbox server, attempting to migrate mailboxes to new server

    error

Cannot open mailbox /o=Cambridge/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=EX2013MBX/cn=Microsoft System Attendant.

  • The external e-mail address SMTP :***** is not an SMTP e-mail address.

  • @Manuel, @Euzer, regarding Active Directore operation failed: I need a bit more information to understand what is happening here, but from the error, seems that some process is connecting directly to AD to read data from a set of trees or containers. The authentication for that process does not appear have the right access level to read whatever it is trying to read from AD directly. Can you check the perms on the process and make sure you have the right permissions?

  • @WJSuarez, regarding "cannot open mailbox...": a couple of things. Can you send the full error details? Run $error[0].Exception | fl –f * right after the cmdlet fails.

Also, have you checked to make sure that the mailbox database that is hosting the mailbox is mounted. If it’s mounted, then can you run test-mapiconnectivity –database DatabaseName to check if it’s accessible. Thanks.

  • @Jonathan, re: "The external e-mail address SMTP :***** is not an SMTP e-mail address" can you give me some more background on the error message?  When are you seeing it?  It's possible this error appears for mail contacts or mail users when the ExternalEmailAddress is blank. Thanks.

  • I have an Office 365 Demo account. I activated In-Place Archive and then clicked View Details. I get a generic error message with a link to click here for details that sends me to this location. I don't have any clues about what error occurred.

  • @Dean, can you add the error message?  Might help us with the troubleshooting. Thanks.

  • @Dean, can you add the error string?

  • I get this error when click on "Migration" and during Move user mailbox.

"The user does not have an Exchange mailbox"

  • I get this error when click on "Migration" and during Move user mailbox.
