How to Delete a Volume

You can delete a volume from either the Disk Management snap-in or the command line. Deleting a volume permanently erases the data stored on the volume.


In the Disk Management console, right-click the volume and then click Delete Volume. Look at the following example:

From the DISKPART> prompt, list the volumes with the list volume command, select the volume, and enter the delete volume command. Look at the following example:
