How to Create (or Re-Create) a Default SCCM Boot Image (Windows PE 4.0) for SCCM 2012 SP1

The following steps describes a short introduction into how you can create (or re-create) a Default SCCM Boot Image (with integrated Windows PE 4.0) for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 ServicePack 1.

This articel refers to full installation of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 with ServicePack 1 and WDS (PXE-Role) enabled.
  1. Install Windows Assesment and Deployment Toolkit (ADK) for Windows 8 via Microsoft Download Center
  2. Optional: Install Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2012 with System Center Configuration Manager 2012 Integration via Microsoft Download Center
  3. Reboot DP Server
  4. Start Deployment Tools Command Line as Administrator
  5. Re-Create Boot Images via COPYPE.CMD

COPYPE.CMD x86 1 c:\WINPE86\
COPYPE.CMD amd64 c:\WINPE64\
COPYPE.CMD arm c.\WINPEARM\

  1. Extract boot.wim from ..\sources\ Folder and copy to SCCM DP-Share
  2. Integrate boot files from share into SCCM
  3.  Check boot packages properties and enable "Distribute on PXE DP" on "source" Tab.

NOTE: If you are using Windows 7 WAIK there are diffrent steps to do!
