How to Apply Exchange Service Packs and Rollups to a Computer that is Running FSE

This article explains how to manually install Exchange service packs and rollups on a computer that is running Forefront Security for Exchange (FSE).

  1. Stop all Exchange and Forefront services. (Typically, stopping all Exchange services will automatically stop all Forefront services.)

  2. Follow the instructions provided with the specific service pack or rollup that you are installing, and install the service pack. Note: Some Exchange service packs and rollups require you to download and install an FSE update in order to ensure that FSE operates correctly.
  3. After the installation is complete, restart the Exchange and Forefront services.
  4. Verify that mail is flowing.
