TMListen Process Hangs SCCM 2012 SP1 Installation

TMListen Process Hangs SCCM 2012 SP1 Installation

During the installation of System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2012 SP1, the system attempts to stop the Trend Micro OfficeScan (TMListen.exe) process. However, most corporate environments require an admin password to unload OfficeScan. Setup will hang until OfficeScan is properly unloaded using the administrative password.

You can verify this by looking for the following entry in the ConfigMgrSetup.log file in the root of the system drive (i.e. C:\)

INFO: Stopping tmlisten

After unloading OfficeScan the setup will continue. When able, the setup will automatically restart OfficeScan as noted in the log with the following entry:

INFO: Starting tmlisten f \\<SiteServer>
INFO: Checking status of timlisten...
INFO: Verified that tmlisten is running on \\<SiteServer>
