Forefront UAG DirectAccess Troubleshooting: Iphlpsrv Related Event Viewer Messages

Forefront UAG DirectAccess Troubleshooting: Iphlpsrv Related Event Viewer Messages

The IP Helper (iphlpsvc) service provides tunnel connectivity using IPv6 transition technologies (6to4, ISATAP, and Teredo), and IP-HTTPS. If this service is not functioning correctly, the Forefront UAG DirectAccess server might not have the enhanced connectivity benefits that these technologies offer.

Some of the following IP Helper related Event IDs may appear in the Windows Event Viewer when a Forefront UAG Activation fails.

Event ID Message

Troubleshooting Event IDs 10062, 10064, 10066, 10068

Cause—The IP Helper (iphlpsvc) service is not started, is starting, or is stopping.

Solution—Manually start the IP Helper service:

  1. Click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  2. Right-click IP Helper, click Properties, and then click Start.
  3. Once the IP Helper service status is started, reactivate Forefront UAG. If the IP Helper service still cannot start, use related events reported to the Windows Event viewer to troubleshoot further.
