SSRS Troubleshooting: Model Item Permissions Need to Be Updated

Background:

Reports based on report models will fail with errors indicating there are insufficient permissions to view the data source.

Workaround:

  1. Open the right-click menu of the model and select the Manage Model Item Security properties page.
  2. Update the assigned permissions to an appropriate Claims authentication account.

Applies to:

  • Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint 2010
  • SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services report server
