This article discusses how to see what quarterly and yearly updates you have installed onto your Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 development machine.
The source for this article was taken from the following forum post on the Windows Embedded Compact Forums: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winembplatdev/thread/78521592-e2b2-45cc-afef-781aea1a018d

To verify that you have installed the correct updates for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 by using the CE Update Check Utility

Important: The following steps only work if you have installed the 2009 yearly rollup update.

  1. In Visual Studio 2005, on the Tools menu, point to Platform Builder for CE 6.0 and then click CE Update Check

  2. In the CEUpdateCheck window, select the platforms that you have installed and then click Verify Updates

  3. Updates that have been successfully installed have a green checkmark next to them. Updates that have not been successfully installed have a red X next to them. For a list of all updates for Windows Embedded CE 6.0, see the Windows CE Developer Center.

To verify that you have installed the correct updates for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 without using the CE Update Check Utility

  1. In Windows File Explorer, navigate to the %_WINCEROOT%\Updates folder.

  2. A .HTM file exists for each update you have installed.
