  1. Click on Start button
  2. Right click on the Shut down button and click on Properties

  3. The Taskbar and Start Menu Properties page will open, beside the Power button action, click on the drop down list and you will find the other actions that can be selected and can replace the Shut down button.

You can change Shutdown button action to :

    - Log off
    - Lock
    - Restart
    - Sleep

  • Nice article!!

  • I had this set to Restart, which is most convenient for me.  Recently (maybe due to a Windows Update?), it changed to Log off, and the "Power button action" dropdown is grayed out so I can't change it.  Any ideas?

  • perfecto muy util gracias
