Warning: Microsoft Dynamics CRM users who use the Report Viewer control included with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 can view information from the reports that they have access to. By using this control, the user can view additional report and session data that is not displayed when running the report in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. To reduce the risk of exposing confidential data, we recommend that you configure the SQL Server Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Web site where the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Reporting Extensions is installed to allow only secure sockets layer (SSL), also known as Secure HTTP, connections. For more information, see the
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Help. To reduce the risk of certain security vulnerabilities, we strongly recommend that you use different Active Directory accounts for the application pools used to run the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011 and SQL Server Reporting Services Web sites.

If you run SQL 2012 you're in trouble right now (July 2012). Our CRM 2011 installation runs the newest Update 8, but Update 8 is only distributed as a EXE-file update, not the full CD-image of CRM 2011 INCLUDING update 8. So the newest media to find the SRSDataConnector on is the release version 6 from January 2012. If running this, an error occurs relating to the "DatacenterID" field is not located in the Server table in MSCONFIG DB. I've searched and found the this ID seems to be used by office365 online versions of CRM to distinct between CRM in different parts of the world (Asia = 5, Europe = 4 and US = 1), but is not sure about this. At least it shuldn't be related to an on-premise version of CRM Generallty this means, that you can't install SRS on a SQL 2012, unless you're running a "old" version of updates, e.g. not newer than Update 6.
By the way if you run Setup of SRS from the original CRM media you get a runtime error on Windows 2008 R2.
So stay on Update 6 until further notice...
From the CRM 2011 media that I have (which I got from Microsoft), attempting to install the SRSDataConnector from the splash screen fails. SetupSrsDataConnector.exe must be run from the \server\amd64\SrsDataConnetor folder.
