Live Meeting-To-Lync: Pilot Testing

This page is part of the Live Meeting-to-Lync Transition Guide (TechNet site).

Five Step Transition Plan

  1. Technical and Administration
  2. Support Strategy
  3. Pilot Testing (this page)
  4. End-User Readiness
  5. Awareness Planning

Pilot testing refers to a formal validation effort conducted in preparation for your transition to Lync. A pilot program should include verification of web collaboration requirements, support readiness and technical deployment. Conducting a pilot program enables you to uncover potential end-user obstacles, proactively address any anticipated issues, and facilitate a more streamlined and effective transition with the broader organization.

Pilot Testing Key Tasks*

  • Lync on-boarding
    • Define timeline, goals and success measurement, pilot user identification, communication, training and testing plan, feedback loop
    • Conduct and measure pilot program
  • Live Meeting ramp-down
    • Understand Live Meeting end-user collaboration requirements and use cases

Best Practice Recommendations

  • Conduct a minimum 30-day pilot to allow for ample testing and feedback
  • Include testers from "real-world" scenarios (i.e. regional, departmental, top Live Meeting users) as well as Live Meeting power users
  • Create your own FAQ document based on feedback from pilot users
  • Include both technical and non-technical users in your pilot. Choose people on the same team so they can work together on the new experience
