Who can I contact if I have questions during the transition process?

·        If you have a Live Meeting question or high level question about transition resources: Contact Live Meeting support – www.livemeeting.com/ask  provides a means to submit an online form or phone numbers 

·        If you have a Lync Online question or high level question about transition resources: Contact Lync Online support as part of O365 technical support  - guidance to submit a support issue is included in the Microsoft Online Portal for customers with a trial or paid subscription (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/support.aspx)

o   How to questions for Lync Online can also be submitted via the O365 Customer Forums.

 
For Live Meeting billing/licensing assistance:

·        If you purchased Live Meeting via a Legacy direct agreement, contact the legacy direct billing team – www.livemeeting.com/ask  and select to submit a billing issue.    

·        If you purchased Live Meeting via a Volume Licensing agreement (ex: Select or Enterprise), contact your Microsoft account team. 

·        If you purchased Live Meeting via  BPOS-S/now O365, contact the O365 Commerce team - - guidance to submit a support issue is included in the Microsoft Online Portal for customers with a trial or paid subscription (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/support.aspx)

What happens if an end-user calls into the current Live Meeting support # after the transition to Lync?
If the question is related to Lync, a support representative will refer the user to their internal help desk for assistance. For Live Meeting-related questions, support will assess their question and address as appropriate.

I am a current BPOS-S customer using Live Meeting. What is the process to transition to Lync Online?
The transition process will be part of the BPOS-S to Office 365 migration. Visit theOffice 365 Transition Center for more information.

What is Lync?
Microsoft™ Lync 2010 (“Lync”)
is the rich client application that provides presence, IM, voice, and ad hoc collaboration and online meeting capabilities through a single interface. Lync is available as both an on-premise solution (Microsoft™ Lync Server 2010) or a hosted solution (Microsoft™ Lync Online).

What is the Live Meeting-to-Lync Transition Guide?
The Transition Guide is an online manual designed to help you plan and execute the transition from the Live Meeting Service to Lync Server, Lync Online or a combination of the two. If you are new to Lync, visit the Adoption Kit for rollout-specific guidance.

Do I need to complete the Lync on-boarding and Live Meeting ramp down tasks in order?
No. In fact, many of the Live Meeting ramp down tasks may not occur until Lync is fully deployed. We recommend an overlap of both solutions to allow time for users to transition. Will Microsoft offer transition guidance for a successful transition to Lync?

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

When will my Live Meeting Service be shut down?
Refer to your Microsoft EA or other Live Meeting Service contract for your contract end date.

Will Live Meeting data (meetings, recordings, account information, etc) transfer to Lync?
As they are independent applications, data will not be transferred from Live Meeting to Lync (Online or Server).  Users are encouraged to download any meeting or recording content they wish to retain.   Live Meeting notes (text slides) can easily be copied and pasted into OneNote or Word.   Live Meeting hosted recordings will remain available in accordance with your retention policy, up to contract expiration.     

What happens to Live Meeting meetings that were already scheduled?
Your Live Meeting meetings will continue to work as long as you have a valid Live Meeting contract.  To ensure your online meetings can continue without disruption, it is recommended that you reschedule your meetings on Lync, prior to your Live Meeting ramp-down completion and contract end date.

Can a user have both the Live Meeting client and Lync client installed on one machine?
Yes both clients can co-exist on one machine. This will allow for a phased transition, but as a best practice we recommend that you make a plan to ramp-down Live Meeting usage and ultimately uninstall the Live Meeting client.

Can a user have both the Live Meeting Add-in for Outlook and the Lync Outlook Add-in installed on one machine?
Yes both Add-ins can co-exist on one machine. This will allow for a phased transition, but as a best practice we recommend that you make a plan to uninstall the Live Meeting Add-in for Outlook to facilitate the transition to Lync. NOTE: if you are also using OCS/Live Meeting, deploying Lync will remove the OCS/Live Meeting component from the Outlook Add-in.

As a Live Meeting Service (LMS) customer, can I have access to a trial Lync Online site?
Yes. You can sign up for a free Lync Online trial here. For more information on your Trial, contact your Microsoft account team or Transition Support at http://www.livemeeting.com/ask  or 1-866-493-2825 in the U.S./ 1-650-526-6950 internationally.

Do you have awareness materials (ex: posters, table tents, etc) that my organization can leverage to help facilitate the transition and promote Lync?
Yes. You can order awareness materials via Print Management, a Microsoft-approved vendor. Visit the Print Management site for details.
