FEP 2010: FEP Dashboard Contains Incorrect Data

Symptom


The FEP Dashboard shows an incorrect number of systems in the Pending state.

Background


The data is retrieved from the Collection Deployment Pending and systems are a member of this collection if they comply to the following conditions:

 

  • FEP agent is not in Add/Remove Programs (Hardware Inventory) with version  2.0.0610.0 or higher,
  • Deployment advertisement is targeted to the client,
  • The last FEP related operation advert status message is about deployment package/program, and
  • The last status message for FEP deployment is not one of the following:
    • Will Not Rerun (Message State 4)
    • Canceled (Message State 7)
    • Failed (Message State 11)
    • Succeeded (Message State 13)

Note that when you deployed Update Rollup 1, the version number is 2.1.1116.0

Cause


The systems listed as pending are not a member of the collection to which you advertised the FEP deployment package. This is an exceptional situation but may occur if systems that are not targeted by FEP become a member of the targeted collection and are removed from the collection again before the systems received the advertisement.

The removal of the systems from the collection does not cleanup the Advertisement status records and these systems have a status of "No Status" for the FEP Deployment advertisement.

Solution

Removing an advertisement cleans up the advertisement status records for the advertisement.

  • Remove the advertisement of the FEP Deployment package
  • Create a new advertisement for the FEP Deployment package
  • Run a Operational Statistics Update cycle on the FEP Dashboard
  • Refresh the FEP Dashboard
