In this Artical we will discribe the differents new features Implemented in the Service Pack 2 of Exchange 2010. 

The new features are:

• Hybrid Configuration wizard
• Address Book Policy
• OWA mini
• OWA auto site redirection

Let's take these one per one :

1. Hybrid Configuration Wizard:

The New Hybrid Configuration Wizard is designed to make establishing a hybrid coexistence relationship between your on premise Exchange organization and another Exchange organization as easy as possible. Scenarios where you would need to establish a hybrid deployment can include Office 365 or another cloud provider, where you will have some mailboxes on premise and others in the cloud either in the short term during migrations, or permanently when you want to keep some mailboxes on premise and move others to the cloud. Hybrid deployments let you:

• Share a unified GAL
• Share an SMTP namespace
• Share free/busy
• Centralize mailflow
• Use a single OWA URL
• Securely route mail between on premise and cloud mailboxes
• Move mailboxes between on premise and cloud with automatic Outlook configuration,

It has three main pieces:

• A new wizard in the Exchange Management Console that provides step by step guidance through the entire hybrid deployment process
• New Exchange Management Shell cmdlets which are executed in the background by the wizard, but also available to you for administration and scripting.
• Better and simplified management of many of the hybrid features

2. Address book policies:

In Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2 the Address Book Policies (ABP’s) are introduced. Using ABP’s it is again possible to implement Global Address List (GAL) segmentation in Exchange Server 2010. But instead of setting all kinds of ACL’s in Active Directory an APB is an assignment of one or more Address Lists to a specific mailbox. It is now possible to create multiple ‘organizations’ within one Exchange 2010 environment that have independent Address Lists, completely separated from each other

3. Outlook Web App Mini: 

The mini version of Outlook Web App is designed for using in simple HTML compactible browsers. This version will help mainly the users who were accessing the OWA using their mobile browsers. This feature was available in Exchange 2003 server, and it is good to see this again. The MINI OWA (OMA) gets enabled automatically once you install the Service Pack 2 on the CAS servers.

You can browse through the folders and compose emails and almost all functionalities. Use Find Someone to check your GAL information, Contacts is the same as Outlook Contacts and so on. It is quite straight forward; hence browse through each option to know more.
 If you enable OWA feature in user mailbox the OMA feature also gets activated automatically.

How to use OWA Mini In Exchange 2010 SP2

In Exchange Server 2010 SP1, we have three types of redirection experience for OWA which is described as below:

•  Manual Redirection
• Temporary Manual Redirection
•  Legacy Silent Redirection

Exchange Server 2010 SP2 has provided us the fourth redirection experience. As the name implies, this redirection performs silent redirection to CAS located in another Active Directory site, but within the same Exchange Organization, that have an OWA ExternalURL.

A new parameter, CrossSiteRedirectType has been created that is available with Set-OWAVirtualDirectory cmdlet to support Cross-Site Silent Redirection. This parameter supports two values, Manual and Silent. Cross-Site Silent Redirection is disabled by default which means Manual setting is enabled which would continuously perform manual redirection between CAS in different Active Directory sites, after you deploy Exchange Server 2010 SP2

Exchange 2010 SP2 also has a host of smaller enhancements:

• Mailbox replication service: Two new parameters have been added to the new-WebServicesVirtualDirectory and Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory cmdlets to remove the manual configuration when moving mailboxes to another forest.
• Mailbox auto-mapping: Exchange 2010 SP2 now lets admins turn off the automapping aspect of mailboxes that have full access permissions to others mailboxes through the Add-MailboxPermission cmdlets.
• Multivalue custom attributes: Five new multivalue custom attributes let you store additional information about a mail recipient.
• Litigation hold: Exchange 2010 lets you place a legal hold on mailbox, so users cannot delete anything in their mailbox or their archive. With SP2, an admin can bypass the hold using a new IgnoreLegalHold switch, which is available through several cmdlets relating to the mailbox or mail user.
