SQL Server Reporting Services Architecture

SQL Server Reporting Services Architecture

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

SSRS is a reporting tool from the Microsoft Business Intelligence group. It is a complete tool for all enterprise reporting requirements. It was initially released with SQL Server 2000 as a separate, installable product, and it was integrated with SQL Server 2005 into one package.

It includes a single platform and tools for all types of structured data (relational, hierarchical, and multidimensional).

Architecture

A core component of the Architecture is the Report Server, which does the report processing.

Altogether the architecture got changed from the SSRS 2008 version.

Report Lifecycle:

  • Report Authoring
  • Report Management
  • Report Delivery
