Office 365 refers to Microsoft’s latest push into software as a service (SaaS)…Its previous SaaS offerings include Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) which features online versions of Exchange, SharePoint, Office Communications and Office Live Meeting, and has been available since March 2009, and Office Web Apps (Access, edit, and share your Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote documents online using SkyDrive), which came on to the scene in June 2010 with online versions of Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word for consumer and business users. Office 365 will be made available to all users on 28 June, 2011, according to a Microsoft executive’s tweet. Office 365 launched in beta in October 2010. The service provides familiar Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, along with Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint and Lync, in a cloud model.
Lot of developments are in place for the release of Microsoft products, aka Servers, Server tools, ERP, CRM in line with the cloud support.
